This is the announcement of an upcoming event. Our first announcement as a matter of fact.
We will attending the play: Money and Run Episode 3: Save the Last Dance for Run at 11:00 this Friday. It is recommended that you buy/reserve your tickets for this event ahead of time at the Theatre Schmeater site. Oh and if we didn't mention, you would be a fool not to come and see the show with us. It is hysterical and features the potentially deadly oxen dance.
At 10:00 we will be at the Cha ... Cha ... Lounge at 506 East Pine St.
After that, unfortunately, I don't know where we will be going. If you stand outside Theatre Schmeater after the show: Maybe 12:00/12:30 we will come ou and then we will hit some additional places.

Hello All,
This Thursday evening at 11:00 PM (or really shortly there after) we will be hitting bar 69 at the Bad JuJu Lounge in Capitol Hill. We may hit a couple of other places on the same block (Barca, Vogue if no cover), etc ... But Bad JuJu is a good enough place for # 69.

So Brandon will be in France for about two weeks in the middle of May, by which time we hope to have hit 100 bars, so that a little break won't seem unwarrented. But lest the whole quest be lost, as it were, during the time he's gone I'll be scheduling and attending a sort of Top Bars (of the first 100) tour. Three or four nights of the two weeks, I'll try to round up people to go hit the bars we've liked the most.
On the list so far:
The Wildrose (Florence rules, and 2.00 wells all day Thursday)
The Pacific Inn (An overall great overlooked spot)
El Camino (The hidden bar, the cool staff, the comped drinks)
Mulleady's (Most welcoming place to date, and what about that urinal?)
Barca (Pretty people in a pretty place)
Benbow (It's a bar! It's a ship! Who can say?)
These bars, for one reason or another, deserve a second visit, and deserve us bringing our patronage back to them. So when time permits, I'll post dates and times of the greatest hits tour. They should all be between May 10 and 24, and it should be probably 5 nights, just a bar or two each night.
Keep reading for details as they are forthcoming.
While we're not completely certain what it will be, we can say this much:
We'll be hitting Bar 100 on the 9th of May, which is a Thursday night. Bar 100 is a big number, and we think everyone should come out and join us. We'll be at one bar pretty much all night, none of this migratory shit, and we'll be giving out nice little certificates to our sponsors. Yes, that's right, all the people who have sponsored us for a drink or more will be getting commemorative certificates. (Hey, if we could afford something really nice, we wouldn't need the sponsors.)
The actual bar should be chosen by the 2nd, to give everyone a chance to figure out where it is and how they're getting there. And for everyone to argue about who's going to sponsor us there, and get the very special Bar 100 certificate.
This is just a quick entry to say hi from lovely Paris and to let you all know that I am alive and kicking. The main thing that I want to report is on a small bar experience that I had here.
It was a random, Asian themed bar, and we sat down and ordered. I ordered and G&T (Big Surprise) and my lovely companion Samantha ordered a Monaco (like the country but with a French accent.) I got a very tall glass with a single shot of gin and little jug of tonic. A Monaco is a mixture of Beer and Wine with a shot of Grenadine. It was very tasty, but also very girly.
I looked at the bill and noted that they had charged us 4.50 Euros (about $4.20) for the Monaco and TEN Euros for the G&T (About $9.70 depending on exchange). Jesus Christ hard liquor is expensive in Paris. This teaches an important rule about drinking in Paris. Stick to the Wine or pay through the nose.
As a final note to this: The Gin was ok (about a $4 G&T) and I insisted on drinking all of the tonic. If we were paying for it, I was drinking it.

Hi All,
I am not sure where we are going on June 4th, but I do know that we will be meeting at the Tin Hat promptly at 9:30. If there are newbies to the tour who show we will stop into the Tin Hat for a drink (probably) and if not, we will motor on to our first bar of the night (it has not yet been picked.)
The highlight of this little excursion (I hope, since it is not yet confirmed) is that Maia will be going out with us. Now if she does, she will become the first Bar Staff to accompany us out on a night. She will simply become our girl of firsts. A higher place of esteem could not be found.
-wOOt
And so it fast approaches. Faster than any of us would have believed. Yes.
It is Bar 200!!!
We will be having a our bar 200 celebration at the Garage on Capitol Hill at 9:00 on August 5th (thanks for the heads up Glen).
Directly after that, I will be hoping on a plane and leaving Seattle for a week. Of course then it will be a week of drinking with my original drinking buddy (instead of my new drinking buddy.)
The quest will begin anew a week after that.
-wOOt
Hi All,
This is just a note to let you all know that we will be taking a week off while I go on vacation. We will use this time to catch up and make sure we are up to date before we start on leg 3 of this amazing quest.
I want to thank everyone for your patience and to those 12 people who actually read our site on semi-regularly basis.
Anyhow we will begin again fresh on the 12th or 13th with our next installment of "As the Glass Clinks"
Until then

Hey All,
I am pleased to announce that the time has finally come. The 570 Bars crew is going to brave Pioneer Square Joint Cover Clubs (8 in all) for a night of drunken debauchery. We will harass women in short skirts, get in fights with guys wearing Rugby Shirts from Old Navy (who are also wearing their hats backward), and maybe even have a good time.
We understand if you don't drink at all 8 with us, but the trip should be fun. We also recommend that you cab (or bus) on down, as I plan to be way to drunk to drive and I hope you all will be too.
The big feature of this night is that we will be going with Scott and Melody (who some of you may know) as the amazing sponsors from the Night of Dives. They still have some juice in Pioneer Square and we plan to squeeze them dry (in a good way, I swear.)
We will meet in front of the Totem Pole in Pioneer Square at 9 PM sharp. If you don't know what we look like, check out the about page. We hope to see all of you there.
Also if you are definitely going to show, drop me a line at brandon@570bars.com to let me know, and we will keep an eye out for you.
-wOOt
Let it be known that the last bar in the 570 bars quest has been chosen. We are not going to tell you what it is, but trust me, it is a worthy ender and you will all be invited.
We will visit a famous personage as part of the last bar.
March 21st 2003 is a Friday and it will be an event. Mark your calender today.
THE event if you must know.
-wOOt
So it has finally happened. We are going to be interviewed on the radio.
We will be on the Don & Ron show on 100.7 (Seattle) at 8AM (ish).
It will be fabulous.

We're rapidly approaching half way, in both time and bar senses, and so we decided to combine the two with another fun night out.
That is, on Saturday September 21st, we're going to hit bar 285.
And some others.
We'll be hitting the bars of Eastlake, starting with Daniel's Broiler and passing through such wonders as TGIFridays and Chandler's Crab House. There are 5 or 6 within two blocks, so it's a great place to just walk around in. We intend to start at 6:30 or so at Daniel's, and then spend several hours covering the half dozen, before ending with a beer at that tacky hall of all things breasty, Hooter's.
It should be fun, and we'd like to get a crowd to come join us, as we've had before with great effect. So come on out and have a drink. Or six.
Hi All,
This is an announcement of our Halfway Run. We will be hitting bar 285 (half of 570) on our 6 month anniversary.
We will be starting at 7:00 PM at Daniel's Broiler on the South End of Lake Union (between Westlake and Eastlake). I know that it is early but most of these places are restaurants and there is no way to know how late they are open. I suppose we could call and check, but why :)
If you are interested in coming either meet us out front, inside, or drop me an email at brandon@570bars.com and I can provide my cell phone for you to get in contact with us so that we can tell you where we are.
Also to note is that since we are starting kind of early, we may be ending before most people pass out from too much liquor. As such, it is likely there will be night caps after bar 285. Where it happens, who can say, but there might be quiet conversation or there might be dancing. We'll see how we feel about it when bar 285 comes rolling in and tries to kick our ass.
We hope to see you all there.

Hey Everybody,
It is time for our bar 300 event and we have decided to make it a bowling event.
It will take place this Sunday at 2:00PM at Leilani Lanes in Greenwood. Click for their website. Also there is a coupon on the page (click Free Bowling Coupon) which says buy 3 get 3, but I don't know how it works, so people should just bring a coupon.
We will be bowling, drinking, and giving out certificates.
We hope to see you all there.
RSVP to be sure that we can reserve enough lanes (or else there might be some standing around, or 6 people to a lane.)
--wOOt
This morning I got a call from Andy Savage at the End. I called him back and he asked me if we wanted to be on the show Thursday Morning at 8:10 or 8:15.
I said yes. So there it is.
The 570 Bars Quest will be on 107.7 The END.
Now this is a much bigger deal than the Ron & Don Show simply because this is more of our market. Rather than conservative talk radio, this is Alternative and Rock.
So I hope you will also listen to this interview and me.
I say
wOOt!!!

Hi all,
I have gotten some complaints from people lately that we don't tell you all where we are going to people can't come out with us. I would like to fix that somewhat.
I will start posting a general idea, if when I have it. As such here are two upcoming events. I will indicate their likelihood of happening if we don't hear that someone is interested in coming along.
Saturday Nov 16th (Saturday - Short notice) - I believe the ring will journey south. Down into the wilds of South Seattle we shall go. These will be the questionable locales past West Seattle. I figure we'll start about 3 ish and go for some hours. If you want to come, drop me a line at Brandon@570bars.com
The Pike Place Market Bar Crawl - Nov 23rd (Saturday) - This day long drinking binge will take us into the heart of the Pike Place Market. There are somewhere in the neighborhood of 7 places and 2 more within a couple of blocks. Without an indication that people are interested in coming along, this will likely be postponed.
--wOOt
Hi All,
I would like to start by thanking Jim (a new sponsor) and Marla for making our trip down south a success. Next I would like to update you all on our plans for Pike Place Market.
I have just been reminded that I can not go out Saturday evening since I have work committments (damn them!!) Instead, I am thinking that we should hit Pike Place Market Friday Evening instead. I don't know how many we will be able to hit, but if we get a good crew together it will be fun. I suspect that we will meet at about 7:00 PM and then motor on through until we are tired, broke, or in jail.
Email me at Brandon@570bars.com if you are interested in participating. Alternatively post a comment here to indicate interest so that buzz can begin to form.

Hi All,
So this friday's festivities have been finalized. We will be meeting at
the Pike Pub and Brewery at 7PM. The Address is 1415 1st Ave.
We will be in the back by the pool tables, and if not, by the bar.
We will be here until at least 7:30. After that, you better call me to find out where I am.
The Pike Pub & Brewery
1415 1st Ave
Seattle, WA 98101
Phone: (206) 622-6044
Hi All,
I have just been told that I was indeed confused. The new and proper location for our meeting is the Pike Pub And Brewery (I knew the word Brewery was in there.)
Time: 7pm
Where: In back by the pool tables.
Date: Nov 22, 2002
Sorry for the confusion.
If you want to come and don't have my cell phone #, drop me a line.
P.S. Thanks Jeff for the heads up. We promise to save you some of the bars here too.

Yes, it's that time already, time for bar 400. The bar 300 event at Leilani Lanes went so well, we've decided to have another bowling event. This time we'll be at West Seattle Bowl, located in lovely West Seattle not far past the West Seattle Bridge, just off Fauntleroy Way.
Starting time for the bowling extravaganza should be at 6:30 pm, Sunday December 1st. That's this very Sunday, and we're sorry about the short notice, but we went through a lot of bars kind of quickly. We'll be getting a couple of lanes, bowling a few games, and having a few drinks. So come out and join us, even if you don't bowl.
Well, it's still almost two months off, but we've got to start thinking that far ahead. We already know, but aren't telling, what the last place will be. What we are telling is that space is kind of limited for the main event there, meaning if you want to be there, we need to know. Priority goes to our sponsors, of course, but anyone could be there. If we get enough people, we'll have to alter our space a little, but that's totally possible.
A few things to know. A famous person will be there; there will be booze; and we will also have food, which, sadly, will end up costing attendees a bit of cash. We can't spring for everyone who might come, but I suspect we'll be subsidizing the cost somewhat.
So if you want to come, now is the time to tell us. Send an email to jason@570bars.com, or brandon@570bars.com, to let us know.
Thanks.
What a nice big number.
I know I'm right in the middle of a night, but at least I've got your attention, and you can see that I'm announcing a new hundred event.
We're doing Bar 500 this Monday, at Chop Suey on Cap Hill, at about 9 pm. They normally have a cover, but there's a very prominent "Free" on this day in the Stranger, and we like the Stranger, so we'll believe them. There's some kind of bands playing, about which we know nothing and care almost less, because there's drink, and a club, and probably some form of smoky, entertaining goodness. The bar is on Madison, somewhere about 13th to 15th and Madison.
So be there as we hit the last of the hundred type bars (because we're almost done and there won't be any 600, thank whatever god you might believe in) and drink the night away.
Doors open at about 9 pm, and we'll be there about then. There should be some drinky goodness, and maybe another bar after, who can say?
Now back to your regularly read bar reviews.
Hello All,
The final bar is less than a month away now and I need a count of how many people we are going to have. If we are going to descend on a place en-mass on a Friday night they should probably know that we are coming.
The date is Friday March 21st. I am not quite sure of the time yet, but I will let you know as soon as I find out.
What I do need to know though is whether you want to come to last bar. I need you to email me at brandon@570bars.com. DO NOT ASSUME that I know you want to come. Space may be limited so the faster I can get a fairly accurate count the better.
There will be an opportunity to spend $$ on food after the final drink and I expect it to be quite a party. So save your pennies and arrange for a DD.
Remember: There will be someone world famous at our final bar and it would be a shame for you to miss this famous person (ha not even giving away sex.)
So, email me, or comment here that you are interested. If there are space considerations, Sponsors have first dibs and then it will be first come first serve.
Thanks to everyone for all of your support. We could not have done this without you.
-wOOt
The Most Ambitious Drinking Quest Ever is about to come to an end and you have the opportunity to be there!
Do not miss this once in a life time chance to attend the completion of a quest that has never seen its like. Don't forget there will be someone world famous at this event. How could you even think of missing this opportunity?
Here are the final details that we will be releasing:
Date: Friday March 21st, 2003
Time of arrival: 7:30 (get there early to find parking, please)
Festivities Begin: 7:45 to 8:00
Awards Ceremony: 8:00 or so.
Until: I fully expect this to go till 11:00 and then maybe we will go somewhere we have already been. Why? because we can! :)
Where: Well, now we get to the tricky part. We will be revealing the place on Friday, March 21st (the day of.) I will be calling people, so I will need a phone number where I can call and leave a message or get ahold of you. Have a pen and a piece of paper handy so that I can give you the address.
Cost: Besides the cost of the drink there will be food. If you plan to stay for more than just the final drink make sure that you have a good $20 to $30 available. You may not need it all, but it is good to know that you have it.
Seating: I don't know how many people are going to want to attend this even. I do know that due to space considerations there will be a primary table and one or more subsequant second tables. I wish we could get everyone squeezed into one place, but it just is not going to happen.
Sponsors get first priority, based on number of sponsorships. The Top 5 Sponsors will be granted a special SO slot that they may fill with whoever they please. This is their reward for their amazing support. Oh, and Clarkie does not count as being part of the top 5 for reasons that will not be mentioned here.
I hope to see everyone at the event and I promise that it will be memorable. There will be awards, special mentions, drinking, and eating. It will be a hell of party, I promise you that.
Remember, email us early. Getting in early may not guarantee you a top spot, but it sure gives you a better shot at one.
-wOOt
This isn't actually us, but hey, it's from us, so here it is.
We were at the Bouchee Cafe and Creperie the other night, and the owner, Tiffany D., had just been presented with an idea for a drink special by a guy from Mexico. He knew what went in the drink, but not the exact portions. So he had scribbled down the basic idea and passed it to Tiffany, and we were there when it happened.
Tiffany then suggested this interesting idea: any of our readers who wanted to could go ahead and make this drink at home (or at least a rough appoximation) and come to Bouchee with their recipe. The bar will make it up, and it's yours on the house, which may be a good or bad thing if you've made it kind of shoddily. Plus, you'll get a free dessert with your meal just for coming in with the drink recipe.
What the name of the drink? No idea. The guy didn't have one, and I haven't come up with one. So think of one on your own.
A couple things. The dessert crepes are to die for, truly tasty. Get one with nutella, vanilla ice cream and strawberry jam, a delicious combo.
Second, the drink is not to be toyed with. It's some drink.
Here's the basic recipe:
Condensed Milk, about a cup
Peanut Butter
A little Vanilla Extract
Some Tequila
Blend with Ice
I think this makes two drinks. I made up a version for me and Brandon, and it worked for two. It's kind of like a shake when it's done, but you could maybe make one a bit thinner by adding some water, I don't know. And the taste? Well, it's a peanut butter shake of great tastiness, but with tequila. Which is...different.
Bouchee is at 34th and Fremont in Fremont, Tiffany's the one who's running the place, the magician will do funny tricks if you let him. So stop in with a recipe, have the drink (I dare you) have a dinner crepe and enjoy your dessert. Don't forget to mention us.
Hey All,
I just want to take a moment to thank Robert B. for his donation to the 570 Bars effort. His is the first donation that we have recieved via the website and we are most grateful. The look on Jason's face when I showed him the email was priceless.
We appreciate the help and thank you for your generosity.

For anyone who might have been listening, or wondering how the KISM 92.9 interview went, it didn't. For whatever reason, probably due to the very normal fact of radio that things are often delayed or bumped, we didn't get called today. We expect we'll be on still, but we're not sure when.
Supposedly we will indeed be on the KISM morning show in Bellingham this Thursday, at about 9 am, the same time we were to be on last week. There was confusion with a second interview that was scheduled, and the usual, but we have been able to reschedule with no difficulty at all, so if all goes this time according to plan, we'll be on 92.9 in just a couple of days.
So I have officially decided that I will no longer be signing my entries wOOt.
I am tired of it.

I am looking for some new ideas on Best and Worst categories.
Is there a particular Best or Worst you are looking for?
Like Best place to smoke a doob?
or
Worst place to look like a cop?
Give me some suggestions and they will probably make it onto our big list of Best and Worst.

Hey All,
Just a quick note to tell you all that 570bars.com has broken 50,000 unique IP hits. I figure that is like 35,000 people who have visited at least the front page. I say this cause I know I account for like 15 of those IP hits.
But anyhow, thank you all for being part of something strange and wonderful.

While I'm not certain what the air date will be at present, Brandon and I are going to be doing an interview for Tech TV's show Unscrewed this coming Tuesday. The segment could air any time thereafer.
Check out the show's website at techtv.com/unscrewed. It's pretty amusing. Should fit rather well with us.
TechTV is available in Seattle on Digital Cable channel 294.
Stay tuned for more info.
We're going to be on a wacky program. Unscrewed, which is an interview/variety/features/god only knows what else show on Tech TV, decided to interview us. And so we went. And it went pretty well.
But in any case, the show will air next week. Wednesday the 27th, at 8 pm Pacific time, and again at 11 that same night it should repeat. We're in about the middle of the show, if I'm not mistaken. But you should watch it all, because it's a very odd show indeed.
Tech TV is channel 294 in the greater Seattle area (Comcast Cable) and may or may not be available wherever you are.
