It's been nearly a year since I posted anything here, or at least six months. So what motivated a new post after all this time? First, I have actually been to more bars, and should review them. But mostly it was a party last night.
It was Melody's birthday, and we went to the Ould Triangle to celebrate with her. A moment after we arrive, she tells us that one of the owners of the bar is also the owner of Molly McGuire's, and wants to give us (good-natured) shit for our reviews of the bar. Well, we didn't give Molly's a good review at all, neither of us, for different reasons. And so, we're kind of freaked at the idea of meeting this woman neither of us has ever met.
But Melody can't be stopped, and in a moment, we're confronted with the very attractive, slightly older Tracey, who is the nicest complainer in the history of complainers. She found the site at some point, didn't like the review, but read on. And discovered that some girl named Melody was mentioned a lot, and eventually realized that it was the Melody who worked at her other bar. And told said Melody she just had to meet us. So she razzed us a bit, and we got all sorts of excuses out, and it was just delightful in the end. Because she was a lovely person, and didn't hate us, and it was a great time.
But embarrassing? Oh, yes. It certainly was.
Happy 30th, Melody.
It's a nice little bar, just a few tables and the bar itself, with seasonal outdoor seating. But very attractive, with high tables and chairs, candles, red velvet curtains. I've been here a couple times since it opened in the summer after the quest finished, and I like it a lot.
The drink specials change every so often, I was told by the bartender on our first visit, which occurred just after our Tech TV interview (to tell you how long ago it was. Shamefully lazy, I am.) But the ones we tried were all rather interesting--cherry drinks with real cherrys, some form of apple beverage with a very good flavor. I know this is all rather vague, but it was six months ago.
You can also order stuff from the delicious pastry cooler of the B&O next door, which is a wonderful reason for a visit to this swank little joint, if only because the desserts are so very tasty.
The prices on the drinks were a bit high, but I've only ever had house specials, which are always more expensive. So what can you expect?
All in all, a nice little spot.

Turns out a lot more bars have died. Of course.
Bar is gone, it appears, but it's died before and come back on several occasions. The Lizzard Lounge is gone according to one of our readers who posted about it, but I haven't been to West Seattle to verify. Mango's is gone, leaving a gap in East Capitol Hill that I'm sure will soon be filled.
There are more, but I can't recall them at present. I had been told the Snappy Dragon was closed, but reports of it's death have been greatly exaggerated, as it was open yesterday.
