Medin's Ravioli Station (NB 53)

This one was entirely an accident. This little restaurant has been a few blocks from my house for about 5 years now, and we've always gone by it without ever going in. Finally, someone decided they wanted to have some ravioli, so we went. It turned out they have a little bar, so it was very serendipitous.

The bar is small, as noted, with a little counter that has about 6 or 8 stools, and tall the bottles are kept in tubes that make it look like some sort of demented pipe organ. It's kind of cool. But they were understaffed, so that it took a minute to get seated, and then a while for the waitress (there was only one) to come by, and then we ordered food that turned out to be delicious, and drinks.

The drinks. Well.

She took a long while to bring them by. We had ordered three--a vodka tonic, a gin and tonic, and a bloody mary. After a while, the two tonic drinks showed up, without limes, in little glasses, without much ice. No sign of the bloody mary. The drinks weren't good, either. We waited for her to come back, and after a long while she did, and we asked for lime. Another long pause, while food items appeared and were devoured, and then there limes, on a cocktail napkin, and my brother Damon asked about his bloody mary, which still wasn't there, and the waitress said, "Sorry, I forgot to tell you last time, we don't have tomato juice." This is about twenty minutes after he's ordered the drink, and the place isn't big. There's only four tables and one guy at the bar.

Anyway, I'll just say drinks aren't their main focus, and leave it at that. Once the limes were added the cocktails became quite bearable. The food was excellent.

Just don't go to the Ravioli Station for drinks. Wine, I'm sure, but cocktails? Meh.
