Type: Restaurant
Class: Midscale
Immediately after sitting down, John our friendly neighborhood bartender, swung in and dropped us off some water. He then took our drink orders and sped off. The bar was mostly empty, but it was after 11:00 and this was not a pickup spot. I suspect they only reason they were still open was because it was Saturday.
On the long wall there is a nicely painted road map of Ballard. I was surprised that there were no locations marked, only streets. I guess it made it more art than map. Across the ceiling hung exposed ventilation ducts and attractive candle holders sat on the table.
The drink was $5.25 plus tax for a medium pour. Way too much but that is what happens with some of these pure restaurant. Harrumph.
I liked John, but the drinks were too pricey, especially for Ballard. I suspect that Lombardi’s will be about the same as they consider themselves a high end establishment as well. It is funny though that some of the highest end places have the most reasonable drinks. I guess the Met just assumes that if you are there, you are calling.
I give the Market Street Grille 2 and a half Martini Glasses out of 5 for the strength of their décor and the strength of their bartender.
