Type: Nightclub
Class: Average
The Vogue is a typical Gothic/Industrial/Fetish/80s Nightclub. It may seem strange to call this combination typical but there is a lot of overlap in the types of people who like all of these things. The Vogue is known for people dressed all in black, and looking bored, or mad, or any one of about 6 “intense” emotions. Now I admit that this is all incredibly stereo typical but it fits the Vogue.
I was once pseudo-Goth and I do like the music that they play. The ambiance is a mixture of poor lighting, a good dance space, a high stage, and a small section of couches. The layout is a little bizarre and can make getting around difficult, especially if you like to mix large amounts of alchohol with large amounts of dancing.
My primary complaint is that you can't sit near the bar and watch people dance (except for the extroverts on the stage, so I guess that is ok.) You can however, get a number of expensive and very good beers here (Trappist Ale and Lambics, specifically.) The well drinks are strong and for $3.50 are underpriced by club specs.
Up at the door is Ogre. A great guy, but I wouldn't mess with him. It will go poorly for you. Behind the bar is an interesting looking woman, but she is not really what you would call approachable. I suspect that she has her favorites, but I don't go there enough to be one of them.
It is not a bad nightclub, especially if you pick the right night for you. I say this, because accidentally showing up on fetish night when you are in the mood for 80s is unpleasant. Trust me.
I give the Vogue 3 Martini Glasses out of 5.
